WesdaRuler Live Release of "Dance Bii"
Athens local beat-wizard WesdaRuler created a memorable vibe with the release of Ocean Drive this past Fall, and now he’s back this Friday (7/3) with “Dance Bii.”
The 30 minute club mix will be going live at 8pm via Instagram (@wesdaruler). This project has been two or three years in the making with tracks from the artist’s vault. As it started to come together after Ocean Drive, WesdaRuler planned for his “Dance Bii” mix to be recorded as a live show.
“The idea sparked when I randomly thought about how I used to listen to the radio when I was a kid. On Friday nights, they would have the host tell you about the big party going down at club suchnsuch. Then they would actually play the live party mix on the radio from the club. That’s where the concept came from,” said WesdaRuler.
Unfortunately with the lasting effects of COVID-19 on the music industry, the idea of a live show isn’t possible right now. Like many artists, WesdaRuler adapted his concept to go digital.
“Just do what you can and be okay with shit not working out. If you’re on the fence about online/streaming/etc. just give it a try. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway. There’s no telling how long it will be before we get back booking shows,” said WesdaRuler.
Although “Dance Bii”’s individual tracks will eventually go up on all streaming platforms, the mix will only be available on Bandcamp. WesdaRuler urges that “for the full experience, you gotta get the mix.” He will be announcing when the mix drops during the Instagram livestream, so get comfy on the couch and tune in Friday night at 8pm.
