Ta’Sheia Shantel Releases "The Mood"

Teeming with natural talent, Ta’Sheia Shantel (aka TeezyTheTyrant) reminds listeners with every music release that she’s an artist to watch. Her latest single, “The Mood,” echoes that sentiment with “‘cause I’m that bitch.” Dropped June 10 on all platforms, the beat was produced by Stackboy Twaun, known for producing many of the Migos’ early hits.

Spending shared time between Atlanta and Athens, Ta’Sheia refers to herself as the epitome of the “Hood Southern Bell,” and elements of Southern hip hop are prominent in her sound. Singing, rapping, and recording—the hustle culture that’s so present in Ta’Sheia’s music is far from a flex. Bigg Roah is now engineering her music and helping her fine tune her sound, which has changed from past releases and is present in the latest drop.

“It sounds a lot closer to what is happening in mainstream female rap, at least as close as I have ever gotten. It’s not as aggressive as my other stuff; it’s like pop rap to me, and was definitely more geared toward the ladies,” said Ta’Sheia.

Listeners can expect a few more single releases ahead of a small project currently in the works. Ta’Sheia plans on hosting a small online listening party to decide on the next single. As like most artists during COVID, she has had to adapt over the last few years while trying to work as consistently as life has allowed. However, she plans to increase her visibility and start doing online live shows through the online performance platform Sessions.
