OG Drrip Releases Album "Doctor Toxic"

UGA student OG Drrip released his first official album, Doctor Toxic, January 5th on all streaming platforms. With a familiar Top 40 hip hop sound, it’s a fun listen all the way through.

“What I want my listeners to take away from my album is good vibes. Whether they are chilling to my melodies or jamming out to my bars, I want my listeners to be confident, prioritize their goals, live life to the fullest… like how I highlight in my songs,” said OG Drrip.

Doctor Toxic is a fitting name if you expect the tracks to be sexually and romantically charged. There’s certainly a “lover boy” vibe here. Throughout the album, OG Drrip plays with different tempos inside of the same set of sounds. The short tracks flow into each other more as a continuation of one another, which makes a complete listen-through of the album seamless (and practical time-wise). The stand out track is “No More,” which has a catchy flow that instantly grabs you and makes you bounce along with it. It seemed to hit the mark exactly how it needed to; at a track time of 1:58, it sweeps you up fast with an in-and-out approach.

As a UGA student, the Classic City has had a positive effect on OG Drrip’s development as an artist. “Athens has had a major influence on my music as I learned how to mix, master, and record my own music through people I met in Athens. I actually mixed, mastered, and recorded all of the songs I have released up to this date. I also reflect on fun experiences I’ve seen or been through as a pre-med student at a big SEC school like UGA,” said OG Drrip.

The album is a short listen with eight songs totalling under 20 minutes, but if you find yourself wanting more by the end of it, there’s good news. More music is on the way with a deluxe version of the album, featuring four to eight new songs, to be released in the future. This will feature alternate cover art, both of which were created by Chuka Okoye. Currently, there’s a music video out for the single “DGNF.”

Check out the album, be on the lookout for the deluxe version drop, and follow OG Drrip on Instagram for updates.
