Niño Brown Releases Music Video to Single "Summer Rain"

No stranger to the Athens music scene and formerly releasing folk/Americana music as Cortez Garza, Niño Brown released the music video to his first single, “Summer Rain,” last Friday under his new pseudonym. Streaming on all platforms soon, this debut single marks the beginning of the rollout for a full album to be released early next year.

As we’re inching closer to the peak of the fall season, “Summer Rain” is one last summer vibe to catch before putting away the flip-flops and grabbing a sweater. Niño Brown collaborated with Goodie of GSB Media to bring his vision to life through the video, featuring personal details about the artist’s life such as the motorcycle imagery.

“I think this song represents what Niño Brown is really all about. There's a lot of cross genrefication going on here,” said Niño Brown. “I grew up listening to everything from Robert Johnson and Sam Cooke to Fugazi and Tupac. My brain views all this as songwriting. It's never been a thing where I felt a limitation in terms of my ability.”

As an artist, he’s gone through several transformations and explored a lot of what music has to offer—playing in a post hardcore band in his early 20’s then building a relationship with Steve Earle that propelled him into the folk and Americana lane. The content of his music has always been drawn heavily from his experiences and reality. As an artist and a person, Niño Brown is an open book.

“It just got to the point where I wasn't listening to that stuff as much, and I felt so limited on what I could say. I just couldn't relate to that scene anymore,” said Niño Brown. “Niño Brown gives me the chance to be truly free and tap into my love for both golden age hip-hop and newer autotune rap. More importantly, I get to express something very real to me, and that's my adventures in the streets.”

“Summer Rain” is an upbeat love song, heavy on the singing. The next single dropping in October, “The Internet,” will be very different according to Niño Brown. More music will be dropping until the full album release in February 2022.

In the meantime, check out the video and follow the artist on Instagram for updates.
